Born in Montella ITALY (Province of Avellino) in the region of Campania

After his studies, he completed his military service in Moncalieri (Piedmont ITALY) In 1932 he obtained his Ph D in law. In 1936 he was assigned to the Police station in Genoa and in 1937 in Fiume Italy, where he was the Police Chief. He refused to cooperate with the Germans and saved over 5000 Jews.

He was arrested on the 13th September of 1944. Originally senteced to death, it was commuted to deportation to Dachau, less known but as deadly as Aushwitz.

Sadly, he died ten weeks before the camp was liberated. Officially his death was recorded as "natural causes", but at age 36 with no illnesss, it is very unlikely...

The origins of this town goes back to the Middle Ages, though the area was inhabited by Samnite populations in the 4th century B.C. It rises abong lovely beech and oak woods. Noble families such as the Ruffo, the D'Aquino, the Cavaniglia and the Doria from Angria governed till 1806. For all those who enjoy nature, Montella is a wonderful place to visit. The oak, beech, elm and maple woods are rich of mushrooms and truffles. There are also good quality chestnuts and many types of herbs. In 1997 a scout international meeting was held here.

Located northeast from Tel Aviv, this twin city is the most important concentration of modern office buildings along the Ayalon Highway, in the area immediately adjacent to the International Diamond Exchange. The area includes a site of about 90 acres under the jurisdiction of the Ramat Gan municipality. The basis for this site began with the construction of the International Diamond Exchange and its related businesses, today composed of three inter-connected tower buildings. Availability of large sites for development of high-rise office buildings immediately in the area provided the impetus for development of what has now become the single most important office location in greater Tel Aviv outside of the CBD. Ramat Gan will have the tallest building in the Middle East, the Aviv-Ocif Tower (under construction). Ramat Gan enjoys immediate access to the Ayalon highway and to the North Railway Station.

Many Italian cities, among which Milano, Torino, Salerno, Fiume, Tolentino, Desenzano, Trieste and Avellino have also named streets after Giovanni Palatucci. Rome has dedicated a park for Giovanni Palatucci in February 2003 (see below)
